Natasha v. mccarthy - Trainer

Natasha Vitkovic “Tash” McCarthy, ’00 B.A. in Communications at Hollins University (Virginia), has spent her life competing horses and working within the Hunter/Jumper industry. She worked for some of the nation’s most esteemed professionals until 2007 when she decided to claim her own professional status, accepting a position at Tuxbury Farm in Charleston, South Carolina. After completing a successful eight years of teaching and managing a high-volume equestrian program, Tash and her husband, Mike, purchased a 24-acre/24-stall boarding facility also in the suburbs of Charleston (now known as White Horses, LLC).

White Horses’ mission is simple: to offer top-quality care and instruction for the horse and rider. This singular objective has resulted in turning out winning combinations at the top levels of U.S. Equestrian Federation events, from National Championships to the Regional levels.

Due to Tash’s experience at Hollins, she’s also successfully prepped riders interested in competing on Intercollegiate and NCEA Equestrian Teams. When not at home, Tash and the White Horses team travel extensively throughout the Southeast to compete in the country’s best horse shows. White Horses riders are also active participants in the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program and regularly attend National Equitation Finals, including the Platinum Performance /USEF Talent Search Finals, The Dover/USEF Hunt Seat Medal Finals and the ASPCA Maclay Finals.

hope king - assistant trainer

Hope King graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.A. degree in Marketing and Sports Management. During her time at OSU, Hope was a competing member of OSU’s D1 NCEA Equestrian team for four years. She contributed to three Big XII Championship titles as well as a history-making NCEA National Championship title in 2020. Other accolades during her time on the team included: NCEA First Team All American, Big XII Flat Rider of the Year, numerous All-Academic Awards, Big XII First Team All American, NCEA & Big XII All Championship teams, and much more.

Hope’s Junior years were just as successful as her collegiate ones. She competed under the instruction of Tash McCarthy from the age of 7 until college. Tash brought Hope from ponies all the way up to the major equitation finals. Alongside Tash’s teachings, Hope had the privilege of training under many equitation legends such as Don Stewart and Karen Healey. Through all of this prestigious training, Hope was able to compete in the USEF Medal and ASPCA Maclay finals, was a state equitation finals winner and had numerous catch rides.

Hope has now returned to her hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, to work alongside Tash in her efforts to create top horses and riders as well as coach for the College of Charleston Equestrian Team.
